What being an 'eco-business' means to us.

When my wife and I first established Sandy Cove Trading Company almost 1 year ago, we wanted to ensure that sourcing and stocking eco-friendly products was at the core of our company ethos. As individuals and business owners, we believe that making ‘green’ choices is paramount to the future success and sustainability of any brand. We don’t, by any means, claim to be a perfect eco-business but we are committed to continually improving the way we operate in an effort to reduce our impact on the planet. Here’s a few of the green initiatives we have already implemented at Sandy Cove Trading Company:

1. Our swing tags are made locally in Victoria using 100% recycled paper and are printed with non-toxic, vegetable-based inks.

2. Our minimalist packaging consists simply of jute twine. Jute is an environmentally friendly plant fibre that is widely grown in parts Asia, including India and Bangladesh. Jute has a number of environmental advantages over other fibres. It has little need for pesticides or fertilisers and has a high biomass production per unit land area. Unlike synthetic fibres, jute is entirely biodegradable and can be ethically discarded in household compost or garbage.

3. Last of all we wanted to ensure that our customers knew that by supporting us they would also be giving something back to the environment. That’s why we decided to donate $1 from every product sold to support environmental conservation.

“It is the big choices we make that set our direction. It is the smallest choices we make that get us to the destination” Shad Helmstette.

Happy travels,

Sandy Cove Trading Company.
